Creating an instance on Openstack

You should have already created instances on Openstack for previous Biomedical Hub courses.

Visit Openstack and follow the commands here to create an instance.

To successfully create an instance you will need to select the following options:

Log on details

Please name your instance something that you will remember - including your name is a good idea. Then follow the instructions using the following options:

  • Boot source: Instance Snapshot
  • Name: transcriptomics
  • Flavour: u1.xxlarge

Once the instance has started remember to take note of the IP address (use Edit-Copy).

Log onto your instance

Once your instance is up and running you can access it in a variety of ways

We recommend using MobaXterm and the instructions can be found here

The log in details are:

  • User name: ubuntu
  • Password: rna2017

Once you have successfully logged on, its time to begin the workshop!
